The following profiles are a non-exhaustive list of the in-house staff members at DEVELOPMENT Solutions.

Philip BARTLEY

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – Mr Philip Bartley is a UK national and engineering graduate with an MBA qualification from the China European International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai. Fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, Mr Bartley has over 15 years of experience in strategic planning, project management and government relations at an international level. He has proven credentials in team leadership and the regional coordination of sustainable development and investment projects in China and Asia, for both international agencies and private sector companies. He is experienced in the analysis and synthesis of data to support strategic investments and manufacturing in China and Asia. He has applied his experience in technical, operational and financial management to public and private sector programmes at the international level. As a founding Director of DEVELOPMENT Solutions, Mr Bartley has planned and coordinated many of its international development programmes.

Mary GUO

SENIOR RESEARCHER – Ms Mary Guo is a member of the senior management team at DEVELOPMENT Solutions’ Beijing office. Ms Guo is responsible for strategic and financial planning for the company and her role includes supporting the development of government and private sector relations through her extensive contacts in Chinese ministries and major Chinese local firms across a range of sustainability areas. Ms Guo has extensive experience in strategic business development for technical assistance projects across the company’s four divisions and leads an operations team providing key support to all aspects of the company’s operations. Ms Guo has a central role in the successful implementation of high-level large-scale training seminars across the Asian region and Europe and leads project visibility of our China-based programmes through her extensive network of press contacts in China.

Emily HEMMINGS

PROJECT MANAGER – Ms Hemmings joined the DS Beijing office in 2014 as a Project Manager and has more than five years of experience in international project management. Ms Hemmings now heads the DS Brussels office in Belgium and is responsible for the management and delivery of EC projects under the international trade and economy division, among others. Activities she has managed at DS include reports, international workshops, conferences and trainings in Latin America, Europe and East Asia. Ms Hemmings is a native English speaker with working knowledge of Mandarin. She holds an MSc. degree in China Studies from the London School of Economics.

Jesper JANSEN

PROJECT MANAGER – Mr Jansen joined the DS Beijing office in 2014 after his traineeship with the Delegation of the European Union to China and Mongolia. Currently, Mr Jansen is working on projects covering the trade & economy and business facilitation fields in East Asia and South Asia. Mr Jansen is a Public Administration graduate from Leiden University. He is experienced in the management of EC projects, in particular international event management in both the EU and third countries.

Belén CASTIÑEIRA DE ANTA

PROJECT MANAGER – Ms Castiñeira joined the Beijing DS office in 2015, taking a leading role in the Tastes of Europe campaign, a project funded by the European Commission Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development. This campaign aims to promote EU food and beverage products in third countries through series of promotional activities and business facilitation schemes. As Project Manager, she oversees and provides strategic insight on the planning of high-level business missions, mainly in Latin America and Asia. Ms Castiñeira holds a Master´s Degree in International Relations from Peking University in China and a Bachelor Degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada, Spain. She is fluent in Spanish, English and Chinese.

Jim STOOPMAN

PROJECT MANAGER – Mr Stoopman joined DS in 2017. He is currently a project manager for the China IPR SME Helpdesk and based in Brussels. Jim holds a MSc in Politics of China from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. He furthermore studied at Tsinghua University, National Taiwan University and Maastricht University where his main courses focused on International Relations, Chinese Politics and conflict resolution. Prior to joining DEVELOPMENT Solutions Jim has been working as a Programme Coordinator at the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) in Brussels, and worked as a trainee in the Asia Pacific Department of the European External Action Service.

Jay BROHMAN

PROJECT MANAGER – Mr Brohman manages the Energy and Environment Division at DS, and is responsible for the delivery of projects in the field of climate and energy policy, among others. With over two years’ experience working at DS, he plays an integral role in supporting the implementation of a range of on-going EU-funded projects for DG CLIMA, DG TRADE, DG CONNECT, and DG NEAR.  He has managed the delivery of high-profile trainings and workshops in China, Europe and abroad. Mr Brohman is a Canadian national, having graduated from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He speaks native-level English and is competent in Mandarin.

Nora BIHARI

PROJECT MANAGER – Ms Bihari has been with DS since September 2015. She is engaged with cross-cutting issues related to the China Intellectual Property Rights Small and Medium Enterprises Helpdesk (IPR SME), currently managing the South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk. Ms Bihari’s responsibilities include outreach activities in Europe, networking and liaising with stakeholders and overall project management. Prior to this, she gained two years’ experience in trade and business facilitation issues in Europe, South-East Asia and China`, while working with the French Embassy in Budapest and the EU-Vietnam Business Network in Ho Chi Minh City. Ms Bihari holds an M.Sc. in International and European Affairs, obtained at Sciences Po Lille, France. Nora is a Hungarian national with full professional working knowledge of French and English.

Nana WANG

GRAPHIC DESIGNER – Ms Wang has been working as a graphic designer for DS since 2008. She has 12 years’ experience in the field. Across the various EC projects, Ms Wang has been responsible for different productions including dissemination, communication mediums and online interactive training. She has also been supporting the IT team and working closely with the project managers. Ms Wang has a major in Computer Application and Culture Industry. Before joining DS, she worked as a chief designer in an e-Commerce Technology company, as well as in the animation area.
