Few countries have been able to match the pace and breadth of China’s economic growth over the past 25 years. The availability of comparatively cheap yet reliable manufacturing capacity initially led to the establishment of China as the “world’s factory”. More recently, China’s capabilities and aspirations have begun to move up the value chain, and the development of the ICT sector is a key part of that trend. ICT is seen as a segment of massive market potential and a key enabler of business success. As a result, the ICT sector has received substantial attention in the formulation of central plans for China’s growth and development.
This project involved research study for Microsoft on ICT procurement opportunities in China and Vietnam, which would enable Microsoft to take advantage of the rapidly growing ICT sector in both China and Vietnam. The project involved conducting research in the Chinese market across 14 international institutions and 9 national and regional tendering agents. For Vietnam, research was done on 15 international institutions and 4 national government institutions.
The research provided a comprehensive overview of valuable procurement opportunities in both countries.
